1996: Sharon became physically ill for a time, and left her jobs as editor and associate producer of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers and X-Men. She moved to Cardiff by the Sea, and began a new life of healing, solitude and reflection, while singing Indian devotional songs with various musicians in San Diego.
1997: Sharon's first book was published - a spiritual autobiography called Never to Return: A Modern Quest for Eternal Truth, which received critical acclaim.
1998: Officially formed Night Lotus Productions, a company that is dedicated to creative service for the public good, mainly through video, writing, and audio productions.
1999 - 2006: Completed many charitable video, graphic design, website, writing, and other projects for various good causes. Only a few projects are listed here.
2000: Wrote Spirituality For Dummies, published by IDG, now Wiley & Sons. Spirituality For Dummies also received enthusiastic reviews. "With her eclectic background and familiarity with spiritual concepts, Janis is able to express spiritual and philosophical teachings and insights in a clear, down-to-earth, and entertaining format. Her natural sense of humor keeps readers laughing, even while their worldviews are being upleveled and uplifted by powerful ancient wisdom."
2001: Scripted and edited a documentary about the amazing American woman sage, Peace Pilgrim.
2002: Produced, scripted, and directed a video program for those in need in San Diego, called, "The Faces of CalWORKs," which has been showing regularly in welfare offices, homeless shelters, domestic violence programs, as well as on San Diego County's government television channel.
2003: Received funding with Federal funds from the National Institute of Mental Health to create training modules on research bioethics, resulting in the initial webpage and videos at www.researchethics.net.
2005: Produced the audio CD of The Glorious Bhagavad Gita: Sung in English.
